Hugh Bisset Hugh Bisset was a 13th-14th century nobleman. After the defeat of the forces and death of Alexander Og MacDonald, Lord of Islay in 1299 against the forces of Alexander MacDougall, Lord of Argyll, an expedition led by Angus Og MacDonald, John MacSween and Hugh was undertaken against the Lord of Argyll shortly afterwards.〔McDonald 1997: pp. 167, 169. See also: Stevenson 1870b: p. 435 (#610).〕 During the early years of the Wars of Scottish Independence, Hugh entered into the service of King Edward I of England. He led a fleet of ships of the North Channel with John of Argyll during the winter of 1306, however appears to have changed sides supporting Robert de Brus shortly afterwards. Hugh lost lands in Ireland for his betrayal against Edward I and later King Edward II of England. ==Citations==
